German Beer Cake Recipe:
1. Combine the following ingredients in a saucepan: dark beer, molasses and butter
2. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring until the butter is melted
3. Add the raisins and cool the mixture
4. Sift the following ingredients together: flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, cloves and nutmeg
5. Stir the sieved dry ingredients gradually into the beer mixture
6. Stir in the chopped nuts
7. Turn the batter into a large buttered and lightly floured baking tin
8. Bake the cake in a moderate oven of 350F (180C) for about 1 hour or until it tests done
