Chocolate Strudel

Chocolate Strudel Recipe:

1. Make an stretch the strudel dough and brush it with butter

2. Mix the chocolate and the butter in a saucepan

3. Cook the mixture over low heat, while frequently stirring until the chocolate is melted

4. Blend the sugar, egg yolks, breadcrumbs, almonds and the vanilla into the chocolate mixture

5. Beat the egg whites until they hold a shape and fold them into the chocolate mixture gently but thoroughly

6. Spread the filling over 2/3 of the dough

7. Roll up the pastry and cut little slits in the top of the strudel

8. Brush the surface with the melted butter and bake in a moderate hot oven of 375F (190C) for 45 to 50minutes until it is golden

9. Sprinkle the strudel with fine granulated sugar immediately when taken out of the oven

1/4 cup finely ground almonds
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup butter
8 egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 cup fine breadcrumbs, toasted until browned
8 egg whites

3/4 cup sugar
