Ginger-nut Cookies Recipe:
1. Grease 2 or 3 baking trays
2. Sift the following ingredients together in a bowl: flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger, and cinnamon
3. Add the sugar to the sifted ingredients
4. Melt the butter in a small pan and stir in the syrup (do not let the butter boil when melting it)
5. Mix this into the dry ingredients using a wooden spoon
6. Using your hands, shape the dough into a thick sausage shape before cutting it into 24 even pieces
7. Roll each piece into a ball and set them well apart and slightly flatten them
8. Bake the cookies above the center of the preheated oven for about 15minutes or until the cookies have cracked and are golden brown
9. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on a wire wrack
10. As soon as the cookies are cold, store them in an airtight tin
List of ingredients required:
1 level teaspoon ground ginger
2 level teaspoons caster sugar
1/2 level teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 oz golden syrup
4 oz self-raising flour
1/2 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
2 oz butter
The oven should be preheated at a temperature of 375F (190C)
