A cheese shepherd pie is basically a shepherd pie with cottage cheese in it. This one, however is not just made out of mice, mash and some onions. The cheese shepherd pie has a wide variety of ingredients so that you receive all the nutrients you need from this meal.
Cheese Shepherd Pie Recipe:
- Pour tuna oil into a heavy saucepan and heat it.
- Add flour, garlic salt and pepper.
- Mix well.
- Pour in milk all at one, immediately stir vigorously over moderate heat.
- Cook, stirring constantly until just thickened.
- Remove from heat.
- Add 1 cup of cheese, mix well.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until curds disappear.
- Add vegetables and mix well.
- Add the remaining cottage cheese to the potatoes.
- Beat with a spoon.
- Spoon creamed vegetables into a well-greased 1 1/2-quarts casserole.
- Break up the tuna.
- Layer the tuna over the vegetables.
- Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the tuna.
- Dot with butter.
- Bake in a hot oven (425°F) until heated through, about 15 minutes.
- Brown under broiler.
