Empanadas

Empanadas Recipe:

  1. Grind coarsely 1 1/2 cups each of lean beef and pork and 1//2 cup ham, a small pimento and 2 tablespoons shelled almonds.
  2. Mix the meat with 3 tablespoons each of seedless raisins and sliced olives.
  3. Also add 1 tablespoon capers.
  4. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper.
  5. Sprinkle lightly with Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Add a few drops of Tabasco.
  7. Stir in just enough melted butter to make a spreadable mixture.
  8. Roll out pie dough.
  9. Cut out 8 inch squares.
  10. Spread a liberal scoop of the meat mixture on one half of each square.
  11. Fold the other half over.
  12. Seal the edges.
  13. Bake the empanada in a moderately hot oven (375ºF) until they are golden brown.
