Applesause Cookies

Applesause Cookies Recipe:

1. Cream together the butter and the sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy

2. Stir in the egg

3. Sift the following ingredients together in a separate bowl: flour, cinnamon, soda, salt and cloves

4. Stir the nuts into the dry sifted ingredients

5. Mix all the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture altenately with the applesauce

6. Shape the dough into long rolls and let the dough chill

7. Slice the rolls thinly and place them on buttered baking trays

8. Bake the cookies in a moderate oven of 350F (177C) for about 12minutes or until they are lightly browned

3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 lightly beaten egg
2 and 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup applesauce
