<p>1. Cream the butter and the sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy</p>
<p>2. Beat in the 3eggs, one at a time</p>
<p>3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together</p>
<p>4. Stir the dry sieved ingredients alternately with the milk into the butter mixture</p>
<p>5. Add the grated lemon rind</p>
<p>6. Turn the batter into 4 prepared 8inch layer cake pans</p>
<p>7. Bake the layers in a moderately hot oven of 375F (190C) for about 30minutes or until they test done</p>
<p>8. Cool them on cake racks</p>
<p>9. Combine all the lime cream ingredients in a saucepan</p>
<p>10. Cook the cream over simmering water while constantly stirring until it is thickened</p>
<h2>List of ingredients required:</h2>
<p>1/2 cup butter<br />
2 cups sugar<br />
3 eggs<br />
3 cups cake flour<br />
3 teaspoons baking powder<br />
A pinch of salt<br />
1 cup milk<br />
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind</p>
<h2>For the lime cream:</h2>
<p>Juice of 4 limes<br />
2 cups sugar<br />
2 beaten eggs<br />
1 cup cold water<br />
2 tablespoons butter<br />
2 tablespoons cornstarch<br />
1 cup whipped cream</p>
