<p>1. Combine the following ingredients in a saucepan: dark beer, molasses and butter</p>
<p>2. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring until the butter is melted</p>
<p>3. Add the raisins and cool the mixture</p>
<p>4. Sift the following ingredients together: flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, cloves and nutmeg</p>
<p>5. Stir the sieved dry ingredients gradually into the beer mixture</p>
<p>6. Stir in the chopped nuts</p>
<p>7. Turn the batter into a large buttered and lightly floured baking tin</p>
<p>8. Bake the cake in a moderate oven of 350F (180C) for about 1 hour or until it tests done</p>
