<p>1. Soak the dried kidney beans in cold water overnight</p>
<p>2. The next day, drain the beans thoroughly</p>
<p>3. Peel the onions and thinly slice them</p>
<p>4. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions until they are soft</p>
<p>5. Stir in the meat and continue stirring until the meat has browned</p>
<p>6. Blend in the drained kidney beans</p>
<p>7. Add the tomatoes and season to taste with the salt and chilli</p>
<p>8. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 1 hour if tinned beans are used and 2hours if dried soaked beans are used. (Add a little water if the stew dries out while cooking)</p>
<p>9. Serve immediately</p>

<p>Salt<br />
2 onions<br />
2 level teaspoons of chilli powder<br />
12 oz dried or 2 large tins of kidney beans<br />
1 lb lean minced beef<br />
2 tablespoons olive oil<br />
14 or 16 oz tin of tomatoes</p>
