Chilli Con Carne

 Chilli Con Carne Recipe:

1. Soak the dried kidney beans in cold water overnight

2. The next day, drain the beans thoroughly

3. Peel the onions and thinly slice them

4. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions until they are soft

5. Stir in the meat and continue stirring until the meat has browned

6. Blend in the drained kidney beans

7. Add the tomatoes and season to taste with the salt and chilli

8. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 1 hour if tinned beans are used and 2hours if dried soaked beans are used. (Add a little water if the stew dries out while cooking)

9. Serve immediately

2 onions
2 level teaspoons of chilli powder
12 oz dried or 2 large tins of kidney beans
1 lb lean minced beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
14 or 16 oz tin of tomatoes
