Beef with Green Peppers Recipe:

1. Cut the beef fillet into thin strips and season them with salt and pepper

2. Heat the salad oil in a heavy-based pan

3. Brown the strips in the hot oil over high heat, while constantly stirring

4. Add the onion, green peppers and celery

5. Cook the vegetables for a few minutes longer while stirring

6. Add the beef stock and cover the pan tightly

7. Cook over moderate heat for a further 10minutes or until the meat and vegetables are tender

8. In a cup, mix the water, cornstarch and soy sauce to make a paste

9. Add the paste to the cooked meat and vegetables

10. Cook for a few minutes longer, while constantly stirring until the liquid thickens and the mixture is very hot

11. Serve immediately

List of ingredients required:

1/3 cup salad oil
6 tablespoons finely minced onion
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
4 green peppers, finely diced
Salt and pepper
Cut 1 and 1/2 lb lean fillet of beef
1 and 1/2 cups celery, sliced diagonally into 1/4 inch pieces
1 and 1/2 cups beef stock
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon soy sauce
